Summer Staycation Spots

Summer vacation looks a bit different this year so we're helping you embrace the STAY-cation!

We're all trying to stay closer to home this year and while that might mean your typical summer vacation was canceled, it doesn't mean there's no way to enjoy the summer. So, we've compiled a list of staycation spots within driving distance of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Stay safe and enjoy!

1. Inexpensive Family Trip: Lake Murray State Park

This place has been one of our favorites for a quick and fun getaway. Lake Murray State Park in Oklahoma offers guests the choice of rustic cabins or a hotel lodge with lakefront views. Guests can enjoy volleyball, swimming pool with splash park, and of course the lake. Lake Murray Water Sports at the cove offers lots of paid (but inexpensive) activities, such as access to the cove with a water trampoline, play pad, and other fun inflatables. As well as kayaks, canoes, jet skies and other water sports. There's even a mini-golf course and beach area. You can also enjoy a nearby golf course, horseback riding, and Tucker Tower Nature Center. Ardmore is within a 15-minute drive for any shopping. You'll have to try the amazing pizza at Ten Star Pizza!

2. Golfer's Getaway: Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa

Located in the Texas Hill Country, and within 15 minutes of Austin is Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa. The resort offers four championship golf courses, a tennis center, four pools, and Mokara Spa. They even have a Camp Barton for the kiddos to enjoy arts and crafts, sports and board games. There seems to be a little something for everyone in the family. And of course, with Austin so close, there are tons of options for restaurants and live entertainment!

3. Romantic Rejuvenation: Lake Austin Spa Resort

If you're looking for a place to escape and rejuvenate with your honey or your closest girls, Lake Austin Spa Resort is the place. Voted the #1 Destination Spa Resort for North America by Conde' Nast Traveler in 2019, you'll be pampered from the moment you walk in. You can have your own private retreat in one of the 40 rooms, some with private garden and hot tub. This place is all about wellness. They offer spa experiences, culinary and nutrition classes, yoga, and water activities. Ahhh.. Calgon take me away!
